Ill. Court Refuses to Reconsider Order Denying Summary Judgment to Excelsior Packing & Gasket Co.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. –– An Illinois federal court has refused to alter a judgment denying an asbestos defendant’s motion for summary judgment, saying that the defendant had failed to identify a “significant change in facts warranting reconsideration.”

In the Feb. 1 order, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois considered Excelsior Packing & Gasket Co.’s motion to alter judgment or amend the order as a motion for reconsideration and noted that “generally, motions for reconsideration of interlocutory orders are discouraged.”
