Illinois Federal Court Overrules Objection to Bill of Costs Relating to Deposition of Asbestos Plaintiff, Fact Witness

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. –– An Illinois federal court has overruled a plaintiff’s objection to a bill of costs, finding that the depositions of the plaintiff and a fact witness were “reasonably necessary at the time the depositions were taken.”

In the Jan. 25 order, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois rejected the plaintiff’s position that because the case did not go to trial, the depositions were only obtained for the convenience of the defense counsel.
