N.Y. Court Orders New Trial on Pain and Suffering Damages in Asbestos Case

BUFFALO, N.Y. –– A New York court has ordered a new trial on pain and suffering damages only in an asbestos case, finding that the jury’s award of $250,000 for pain and suffering deviated materially from what would be reasonable compensation.
The new trial will occur unless John Crane stipulates to an increase in damages to $600,000, the New York Supreme Court, 8th Judicial District, said in its Dec. 18 order.
