House of Representatives Passes Asbestos Bankruptcy Settlement Trust Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act, into which the Furthering Asbestos Claim Transparency Act was folded earlier this week.
The House passed the legislation by a vote of 211-188 on Jan. 8, according to published reports.
The Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act (H.R. 1927) requires litigants to establish that each proposed member in a class action lawsuit has the same extent of injuries. Earlier this week, however, the Furthering Asbestos Claim Transparency (FACT) Act was folded into H.R. 1927.
