CHICAGO –– An Illinois federal court has awarded summary judgment to John Crane in an asbestos case, ruling that the plaintiffs had failed to establish a genuine issue of material fact as to whether the decedent was exposed to an asbestos-containing product manufactured by the company.

In the Nov. 24 order, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois wrote that “while all reasonable inferences must be drawn in favor of Plaintiff, Plaintiff cannot create a genuine issue of material fact through mere speculation or the building of inference upon inference.”
