Wash. Jury Finds for Ford Motor at Conclusion of Living Mesothelioma Trial

TACOMA, Wash. –– A Washington federal jury has reached a defense verdict in favor of Ford Motor Co., rejecting claims asserted by a former employee at an engine rebuilding facility.

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington jury reached the verdict on Oct. 1. Ford Motor was the lone remaining defendant at the time of the verdict.

Judge Ronald B. Leighton presided over the two-week trial.

In his complaint, plaintiff Gregory Cannard argued that his work with asbestos-containing engine gaskets he encountered while employed at an engine rebuilding facility caused him to develop malignant pleural mesothelioma. The …
