U.S. Supreme Court Refuses to Hear Argument in Big Three Removal Case

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Big Three automakers have run out of gas in their bid to have some 10,000 asbestos claims transferred to bankruptcy court on grounds that their outcomes would impact the Chapter 11 proceedings of auto parts maker Federal-Mogul Corp. DaimlerChrysler Corp., et al. v. Official Committee of Asbestos Claimants, et al., No. 02-661 (U.S. Sup. Ct.).
In an order issued Jan. 13, the U.S. Supreme Court turned down an opportunity to hear the automakers' case for consolidating claims they said were related to the Federal-Mogul bankruptcy.
