Ill. Court Grants Motion to Dismiss Honeywell, Denies Similar Efforts from John Crane, Owens-Illinois

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. –– An Illinois federal court has granted a motion to dismiss brought by Honeywell International Inc., finding that it lacked specific personal jurisdiction over the claims asserted against the defendant.

In a series of July 1 orders, the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Illinois granted Honeywell’s motion to dismiss without prejudice, but denied two others brought by Owens-Illinois and John Crane.

Plaintiff Gerald D. McAlvey alleged that he was exposed to asbestos-containing products while employed in the U.S. Navy. As a result of the exposure, McAlvey said he developed asbestosis.
