Louisiana Court Refuses to Reconsider Order Granting Remand in Asbestos Case; Crane Co. Files Notice of Appeal

NEW ORLEANS –– A Louisiana federal court has refused to reconsider an order remanding an asbestos case on grounds that the defendants had failed to prove that U.S. Navy prohibited them from providing asbestos-related warnings.

In a June 19 notice, Crane Co. stated that it intends to appeal the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana’s ruling granting the motion to remand.

Plaintiffs Debra Meyers and Ronald Palermo asserted the claims, saying that their father, Ronald Dummitt, developed mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos-containing products present on U.S. Naval ships. Dummitt was a boiler technician …
