Legislation Requiring Disclosure of Claims Filed with Asbestos and Silica Trust Awaits Signature from Texas Governor

AUSTIN –– Both the Texas Senate and House of Representatives have passed legislation that would require asbestos and silica plaintiffs to submit proof of claims filed with trusts or face dismissal of their lawsuits.

House Bill No. 1492 passed the House on May 11 with a 126-11 vote, while the Senate approved the measure on May 22 with a vote of 29-1. The legislation was sent to the Governor of Texas on May 26.
