Settlement Reached in Asbestos Case Involving Reilly-Benton, McCarty Corp. on Eve of Trial

NEW ORLEANS –– The remaining parties in an asbestos exposure case reached a settlement agreement just days before trial in the case was scheduled to begin.

According to a May 8 order of dismissal entered by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Reilly-Benton Co. Inc. and The McCarty Corp. have “firmly agreed upon a compromise with Plaintiff.”

The underlying case involves asbestos-related claims asserted by Blane Ronquille.

In April, the court denied a motion for summary judgment filed by a remaining defendant, saying that, “although far from incontrovertible,” the evidence presented by the plaintiff was …
