Upstate N.Y. Jurors Award $4 Million to Plaintiffs in Asbestos Case Against Distributor




UTICA, N.Y. –– An upstate New York jury has awarded $4 million to the plaintiffs in a mesothelioma and lung cancer case in what is believed to be the largest asbestos verdict ever entered in the county.

Judge Charles C. Merrell of the New York Supreme Court for Oneida County presided over the trial, which ended in a verdict on March 18.

The jury broke down its awarded into $1 million for past paint and suffering and $3 million for future pain and suffering. Supplier defendant Pacemaker Steel & Piping Co., a successor-in-interest to Charles Millar Supply Co., was assessed …
