Jury Finds in Favor of Amcor Inc. in California Bystander Asbestos Exposure Case

SANTA MONICA — A California state court jury has rendered a defense verdict in a bystander asbestos exposure case in favor of a gun plastic cement manufacturer.
The 11-1 verdict was handed down on Sept. 5 by a Los Angeles Superior Court jury, which found for Amcord Inc. on the plaintiff’s claims of strict liability, negligence, failure to warn and punitive damages. Judge Lawrence Cho presided over the three-and-a-half week trial.
Plaintiff Don Lee alleged he developed asbestosis after being exposed to Amcord’s gun plastic cement while delivering concrete to new housing tracts in southern California from 1950 to 1980. …
