Defense Verdict Follows $1.6 Million Damage Award in Raw Asbestos Exposure Case

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A New York judge has indicated that he will enter a verdict in favor of the sole remaining defendant in a trial that concluded with jurors awarding nearly $1.6 million to a plaintiff who claimed he developed mesothelioma as a result of exposure to blue crocidolite asbestos.

Sources told HarrisMartin Publishing that the Oct. 21 verdict in Erie County Supreme Court absolves defendant Special Electric of liability for the asbestos-related injury alleged by plaintiff Hubert Peace, 74, a former plastics worker who sued several companies that supplied raw asbestos to his employer.
