MDL Court Prepares to Remand Hundreds of MARDOC Claims; Schedules Hearing on Dispositive Motions

PHILADELPHIA –– The court overseeing the national Asbestos Products Liability Multidistrict Litigation docket has issued a serious of orders in anticipation of remanding hundreds of maritime cases back to transferor courts.

In one of three separate orders issued Aug. 20, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania additionally scheduled oral argument on dispositive motions attacking a number of claims for lack of causation.

In another one of the orders, the MDL Court asked that plaintiffs in approximately 300 cases to show cause why their cases should not be dismissed or remanded back to the transferor court.
