9th Circuit Reverses Federal Court Decision Rejecting Amendment Efforts by Plaintiffs

SAN FRANCISCO –– The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit has reversed a federal court’s decision to deny asbestos plaintiffs the chance to amend their complaint, according to a recent order.

In a three-page June 16 decision, the 9th Circuit cited the federal court’s failure to give a valid reason for denying the plaintiffs’ motion.

Plaintiffs Dennis and Tho Hellervik brought the asbestos-related claims. A federal court, however, denied the plaintiffs’ efforts to amend their suit, the 9th Circuit noted.
