Calif. Jury Awards $10.9 Million to Family of Auto Mechanic; Allocates 30 Percent Liability to Honeywell

FRESNO, Calif. –– A California jury has awarded nearly $11 million to the family of a former auto mechanic, finding that the decedent’s work with Bendix brakes was a factor in his development of mesothelioma.
Judge Jeffrey Y. Hamilton of the California Superior Court for Fresno County presided over the trial, which ended in a verdict on May 28. Parties gave opening statements on April 28 and closed on May 15, sources told HarrisMartin. Jurors deliberated for five days for Phase I, and less than one day for Phase II.
