MDL Court Dismisses Another 4,400 Ohio MARDOC Claims; Recent Dismissals Now Total More than 10,000

PHILADELPHIA –– The court overseeing the national asbestos multidistrict litigation docket has dismissed more than 4,000 more maritime claims for lack of personal jurisdiction, ruling once again that the complaints did not make allegations about the shipowner defendants’ harmful activities in Ohio.
In the April 14 order, however, Judge Eduardo C. Robreno of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania did allow the plaintiffs 30 days to produce coast guard records they argued would show that a particular defendant’s ship was in Ohio navigable waters.
