CHARLESTON, W.Va. –– A West Virginia appellate board has affirmed the denial of benefits to the widow of a former aluminum plant worker, rejecting a link between alleged asbestos exposure and renal cancer.
In the April 14 decision, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals further found testimony linking cancer to aluminum production work “too speculative.”
Louise Frank alleged that her husband, Clarence S. Frank, was exposed to asbestos-containing products during his work as an aluminum plant worker at Alcan Rolled Products. After his death, it was discovered that Frank suffered from esthesioneuroblastoma and renal cell carcinoma, his widow says. …
