Louisiana Dismisses Several Asbestos Claims Against Ford, Finds State’s Product Liability Act is Exclusive Remedy

LAKE CHARLES, La. –– A Louisiana federal court has dismissed a number of claims asserted on behalf of a man who was allegedly exposed to asbestos in a variety of ways, finding that Louisiana Products Liability Act is the plaintiffs’ exclusive remedy.

In the March 27 opinion, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana opined that it would be “illogical” for the accrual period as to defendant Ford Motor Co. to begin when the decedent was exposed to another manufacturer’s product.
