Wisconsin Assembly Approves Amended Asbestos Bankruptcy Trust Disclosure Legislation; Measure Goes to Governor

MADISON, Wis. –– Assembly members in Wisconsin have approved amendments to legislation that would require asbestos plaintiffs to disclose claims pending with bankruptcy trusts, or indicate their intention to file claims with personal injury trusts.
The legislators voted 55-38 in favor of the bill on March 20, which now proceeds to Gov. Scott Walker for consideration. On March 12, senators passed the bill by a vote of 17-16 after removing an amendment in an earlier version that required a six-month delay before a trial could start after a claim was stated.
