NEW ORLEANS –– A Louisiana federal court has ruled that defendant General Electric cannot be held liable for a plaintiff’s exposure to another company’s asbestos-containing insulation that was affixed to bare metal turbines manufactured by GE.
In the March 14 opinion, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana ruled that under products liability law, GE is entitled to summary judgment in the case because the plaintiff’s claims are based on alleged exposure to products the company neither sold nor manufactured.
