PHILADELPHIA –– A manufacturer of evaporators aboard U.S. Naval ships has been awarded summary judgment by the court overseeing the national Asbestos Products Liability Multidistrict Litigation, which agreed with a recommendation that a finding of liability against Viad Corp. would be “impermissibly conjectural.”

In the March 13 order, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania adopted a report and recommendation issued by a magistrate judge, who determined that there was insufficient evidence linking the decedent’s illness to asbestos exposure from Viad’s products.
