CHICAGO –– An Illinois federal court has declined to award summary judgment to Crane Co., rejecting the asbestos defendant’s position that it may not be held liable for third-party replacement parts.
In the Feb. 14 order, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois determined that a defendant could be held liable for failure to warn if the product required an asbestos component and “where the asbestos-containing material would necessarily be replaced by other asbestos-containing material.”
