Pa. Appellate Court Affirms Order Transferring Bethlehem Steel Asbestos Cases from Philadelphia to Northampton

PHILADELPHIA –– A Pennsylvania appellate court has affirmed an order transferring a number of asbestos cases from Philadelphia County to Northampton County, noting that is where the exposure allegedly occurred, where the medical records reside, and where prior, related litigation is ongoing.

In the Jan. 21 order, the Pennsylvania Superior Court rejected the plaintiffs’ contention that the defendants had failed to prove that they would be prejudiced by keeping the claims in Philadelphia County, opining that the plaintiffs “misapprehend our standard of review.”
