New York Appellate Court Hears Arguments Relating to 3rd-Party Replacement Product Liability in Asbestos Case

NEW YORK –– A New York appellate court has heard arguments relating to an $8 million asbestos verdict that imposed liability on Crane Co. for gaskets and packing manufactured by third parties, sources confirmed to HarrisMartin.

The asbestos-related case was listed on the Dec. 11 calendar for the First Department of the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court.

The underlying appeal addresses a $32 million verdict, later reduced to $8 million, entered against Crane Co. While the trial court reduced the damages awarded, it concluded that there was enough evidence to indicate that the defendant knew its product …
