Ohio Court Affirms $2.6 Million Asbestos Verdict

CLEVELAND –– An Ohio appellate court has affirmed a $2.6 million asbestos verdict, rejecting defendant Ferro Engineering Division of Marine Services Co.’s contention that the plaintiffs had failed to prove that the decedent had a sufficient amount of exposure to asbestos in its products.

In the Nov. 27 opinion, the Ohio 8th Appellate District Court of Appeals for Cuyahoga County also rejected the plaintiffs’ cross-appeal, ruling that the trial court did not err when it included the decedent’s former employers as “empty chair” entities listed on the verdict sheet.
