Jury Awards $4 Million in Case Against John Crane

SAN FRANCISCO -- A San Francisco jury has awarded nearly $4 million to the family of a former machinist mate, who claimed that his exposure to John Crane asbestos-containing gaskets and packing products caused his mesothelioma. Yager, et al. v. John Crane, et al., No. CGC 05-440678 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Francisco Cty.).
The County Superior Court jury reached the verdict on Aug. 28, awarding a total of $3,949,735 to the family of Roy Yager.
The eight-day trial was presided over by Judge Thomas Mellon.
The jury deliberated for two days, sources said.
