NYC Court Allows Asbestos Claims to Proceed Against Dissolved NJ Valve Defendant

NEW YORK –– A New York trial court has held that a dissolved New Jersey corporation is amenable to asbestos lawsuits in the city’s coordinated docket, “even after the winding up process has been completed.”
In the Oct. 23 decision, the New York Supreme Court for New York County further found that since the asbestos plaintiffs could obtain a judgment against the valve defendant, it could bring a direct action against its insurer.
