NYC Court Denies Attempts to Throw Out $35 Million Asbestos Verdict; Reduces Damages to $18 Million

NEW YORK –– A New York trial court has denied Crane Co.’s attempts to vacate a $35 million verdict, rejecting the defendant’s argument that it could not be held responsible for asbestos-containing products it did not manufacture or supply.

In its Nov. 6 decision, the New York Supreme Court for New York County said that the “duty issue is a factual one for a trier of fact to determine even though others supplied/applied [asbestos-containing materials] to Crane Co.’s bare metal product after its sale.”
