NYC Court Awards Summary Judgment to Goodyear Defendants in Asbestos Sheet Metal Gasket Case

NEW YORK –– A New York trial court has awarded summary judgment in favor of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (NASDAQ:GT), and Goodyear Canada Inc., finding that it would be “mere speculation,” to infer that the defendants’ metal sheet gaskets used by the decedent contained asbestos.

In reaching its decision, the New York Supreme Court for New York County pointed out that the defendants also manufactured asbestos-free sheet metal gaskets at the time of the alleged exposure.
