Calif. Jury Reaches Defense Verdict for CertainTeed in Bystander Cement Pipe Asbestos Case

SAN FRANCISCO –– A California jury has reached a defense verdict for CertainTeed Corp. in a bystander exposure case, rejecting the plaintiff’s assertion that he was exposed to asbestos-containing cement pipes provided by the defendant for use in freeway construction.
The San Francisco County Superior Court jury reached the verdict on Sept. 20 after finding that the plaintiff was not exposed to any asbestos from a product manufactured, distributed or sold by CertainTeed.
Judge Ernest H. Goldsmith presided over the two-and-a-half-week trial.
