Fla. Jury Awards $8 Million to Asbestos Plaintiff; Finds Against Lorillard, Hollingsworth & Vose and Crane Co.




TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida jury has awarded an asbestos plaintiff $8 million in damages, finding his mesothelioma was caused by both his use of cigarettes with micronite filters and his work with gaskets.

Judge John J. Murphy III of the Broward County (Fla.) Circuit Court presided over the 16-day trial. After four days of deliberations, the jury found in favor of plaintiff Richard DeLisle and allocated 16 percent of the damages to Crane Co., 22 percent to Lorillard Tobacco Co., 22 percent to Hollingsworth & Vose Co., 20 percent to Bright Water paper and 20 percent to Owens Corning …
