OAKLAND, Calif. –– A jury has reached a defense verdict for Union Carbide in a case brought by a doctor who has testified for asbestos plaintiffs and who claimed that renovations at the hospital in which he worked exposed him to asbestos-containing joint compound.

The California Superior Court for Alameda County jury reached the verdict on July 12 after two days of deliberations. Judge Jo-Lynne Q. Lee presided over the trial.
