N.Y. Jurors Reach Defense Verdict for American Biltrite in Asbestos Lung Cancer Case

NEW YORK –– A New York jury has reached a defense verdict in favor of American Biltrite, rejecting claims that the plaintiff’s lung cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos in the defendant’s asbestos-containing vinyl floor tile.

The New York Supreme Court for New York County jury reached the verdict on Aug. 14 after a two-and-one-half week trial. Jurors deliberated for less than one hour before reaching the verdict, sources told HarrisMartin.

Justice Martin Shulman presided over the trial. American Biltrite was the lone remaining defendant at the time of the verdict.
