NEW YORK –– A New York trial court has split nine asbestos cases into three trial groupings, in part granting the plaintiffs’ motion to consolidate.

In the Aug. 20 order, the New York Supreme Court for New York County further ordered that a tenth case –– which includes allegations of exposure to asbestos-containing laboratory gloves –– should be tried separately.

Plaintiffs in the 10 asbestos cases had moved for consolidation for trial, but several defendants opposed the efforts.

In addressing the motion, the trial court looked at the allegations for similarities in worksites, occupations, disease and counsel.
