Calif. Trial Court Abandons Order Requiring Prepayment of Jury Fees After Asbestos Defendants Seek Appellate Review

SAN FRANCISCO –– A California trial court has struck part of a pretrial order requiring parties to provide an advance deposit of voir dire and jury fees, just days after defendants asked an appellate court to review the mandate.

In a second pretrial order issued Monday, Aug. 12, Judge Ernest H. Goldsmith of the San Francisco Superior Court said that jury fees will be paid pursuant to provisions outlined in CCP Sec. 631(c), which provides that jury fees are due daily, not in advance.
