Oakland Court Denies Contractor’s Motion for Summary Judgment in Take-Home Asbestos Exposure Case

OAKLAND, Calif. –– A California trial court has rejected a contractor’s assertion that it had no duty to the wife of one of its workers, who developed mesothelioma after years of laundering her husband’s work clothing.

In the July 26 order, the California Superior Court for Alameda County denied Cahill Contractors Inc.’s motion, ruling that the defendant’s argument regarding foreseeability of the take-home exposure was not legally appropriate at this time.

Trial in the matter is scheduled to begin Aug. 13.
