Asbestos Plaintiff Committee Opposes Motion to Open Garlock Bankruptcy Estimation Trial

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –– The Official Committee of Asbestos Personal Injury Claimants is opposing a news outlet’s motion requesting that the court open Garlock Sealing Technologies’ entire estimation trial, arguing that the court has already addressed the issue.

In the July 30 opposition brief, filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina, the Committee contends that Garlock’s earlier attempt to “strip” confidentiality designations on asbestos trust claim details was denied by the court, which at the time questioned the amount of public interest in the information.
