Philadelphia Jury Reaches Verdict for Crane Co., Allocates Majority of Liability to Asbestos Plaintiff




PHILADELPHIA –– A Pennsylvania jury has reached a defense verdict in favor of Crane Co., allocating 85 percent liability to the plaintiff after finding that the former machinist’s mate was negligent.

Judge William J. Manfredi of the Pennsylvania Court of Common Please for Philadelphia County presided over the trial, which ended in a verdict on July 24.

Crane Co. was the lone remaining defendant at the time of the verdict, sources said, noting that while jurors found both Crane Co. and the plaintiff negligent at the conclusion of the trial, the defendant was only assessed 15 percent liability. …
