Estimation Trial on Garlock’s Asbestos Liabilities Starts July 22 in Bankruptcy Court

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –– Garlock Sealing Technologies has filed its brief in anticipation of a July 22 estimation trial, at the end of which a federal bankruptcy court will determine the asbestos defendant’s liabilities for future mesothelioma claims, which Garlock says total no more than $125 million.

In a July 8 trial brief and summary of evidence to be presented at trial filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina, Garlock argues that the products at issue are not like other traditional “asbestos” bankruptcy cases, in which the products directly caused injury.
