Ill. Jury Awards $1.4 Million to Family of Railroad Worker, Holds Illinois Central Railroad Liable in Asbestos Case




BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –– A jury has awarded $1.4 million to the family of a former railroad worker, finding that his employer, a predecessor to Illinois Central Railroad Co., knew of dangers relating to asbestos exposure and failed to warn its workers.

The Illinois Circuit Court for McLean County jury reached the verdict on June 25 after 11 days of trial and 11 hours of deliberations, sources said. Judge Paul Lawrence presided over the trial.
