California Jury Awards More than $27 Million in Take-Home Asbestos Exposure Case Against Owens-Illinois

OAKLAND, Calif. –– A California jury has awarded the wife of a former insulator $27 million, accepting the plaintiffs' claims that Rose-Marie Grigg was exposed to asbestos while laundering her husband's work clothing.

The California Superior Court for Alameda County jury reached the verdict on June 5, sources told HarrisMartin. Owens-Illinois was the lone remaining defendant at the time of the verdict, which was reached after a two-month trial and six days of deliberations.

Plaintiffs Rose-Marie and Martin Grigg asserted the claims, contending that Rose-Marie Grigg developed mesothelioma as a result of washing Martin Grigg's work clothing. Martin Grigg …
