MDL Court Dismisses Strict Product Liability Claims Against Todd Shipyards in Asbestos Case

PHILADELPHIA –– Todd Shipyards’ attempts to obtain summary judgment in a lawsuit involving exposure to asbestos on its ships have been granted in part, with the court overseeing the national asbestos products liability multidistrict litigation awarding summary judgment to the defendant on strict product liability claims.

In the same April 4 order, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania denied the defendant’s attempts to have negligence claims dismissed, concluding that the plaintiff had presented enough evidence to create a genuine issue of material fact.
