MDL Court Awards Summary Judgment to CBS Corp., GE; Denies Similar Efforts by Union Carbide

PHILADELPHIA –– The court overseeing the national asbestos products liability multidistrict litigation docket has awarded summary judgment to CBS Corp. (NYSE:CBS) and General Electric (NYSE:GE) on product identification grounds, but denied similar efforts made by Union Carbide.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania issued the three separate orders in April, in part opining that the plaintiff’s own testimony had established a causal link between Union Carbide’s asbestos and the plaintiff’s lung cancer.
