JPML Adopts Suggestion to Cease Transfer of Asbestos Actions from Eastern District of Virginia

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has adopted a suggestion by the national asbestos multidistrict litigation judge to cease the transfer of asbestos actions from the Eastern District of Virginia, citing the low number of cases pending in the region.
In the April 19 order, the JPML ordered that the transfer of new tag-along actions from this district is terminated, effective April 5.
Judge Eduardo C. Robreno had recommended in an April 5 filing that the panel decline to transfer actions from the Eastern District of Virginia.
