N.Y. Court Rejects Summary Judgment Efforts from Crane Co., Allows Asbestos Plaintiffs to Rely on Ship Blueprints

NEW YORK –– A New York court has denied motions for summary judgment filed by Crane Co. and Crane Pumps & Systems Inc., rejecting the defendants’ contention that the plaintiffs had failed to establish a causal link between their products and his asbestos-related injury.

In the April 22 order, Judge Sherry Klein Heitler of the New York Supreme Court for New York County ruled that in supporting their claims, the plaintiffs could rely on blueprints from naval ships on which the decedent did not serve since the documents represented the construction of an entire class of destroyers.
