N.Y. Court Rejects Defense Objections, Consolidates 15 Asbestos Cases into 3 Trial Groups

NEW YORK –– The court overseeing the coordinated New York City asbestos docket has issued an order consolidating 15 cases into three trial groups, rejecting objections made by the defendants that consolidating the cases would not allow the jury to fairly assess the evidence.
In its April 17 order, the New York Supreme Court for New York County found that the defendants would not be prejudiced by consolidating the cases into three groups, since there is commonality between work sites, occupations, products and injuries.
