Goodyear Files Another Declaratory Action Against Travelers for Asbestos Claims

PITTSBURGH –– Three weeks after its insurer filed a declaratory action disclaiming coverage to Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (NASDAQ:GT), the asbestos defendant has filed its own lawsuit, contending that Travelers (NYSE:TRV) owes it coverage for underlying asbestos personal injury and premises claims.

The complaint, filed Feb. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania is the third declaratory action exchanged by the parties in less than one month. While Travelers filed its own complaint in Pennsylvania federal court, Goodyear filed an Ohio federal action.
