SEATTLE –– A Washington federal court has awarded summary judgment to the last remaining defendant in a take-home asbestos exposure case, finding that, as a corporate successor, the defendant could not be held liable for the plaintiff’s mesothelioma.

In the Dec. 27 opinion, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington said that the contract Saint Gobain Containers entered into with the employer of the plaintiff’s husband did not outline an independent duty to foreseeable victims.
